Pitch Pals®  is the new app from halooda aimed at helping young children to develop the skills needed to enjoy and succeed in music, by playing fun and enthralling musical games led by Peter Parrot and the Pitch Pals.

It can be played alone or is great to play with other children, with a parent, or as a whole family! The children may soon be better than the adults…

The Pitch Pal games make learning music a fun and natural experience

Learn from Peter Parrot and the Pitch Pal characters who guide you through each game.

Each Pitch Pal represents a different musical note, has a different background and personality, and plays a different instrument. Explore music with them and discover your own musical talents.

Sing a note back to me

The player chooses a Pitch Pal character, who introduces themselves and sings their note. The player then sings the same note back at the correct pitch.

This develops the ability to hear the pitch of a note and copy it. It also builds the confidence to sing and makes the link between note names, their pitches, and where they are shown in written music.

It is an important foundation for later games.

Find this note

In this game the player chooses a musical instrument. The app then plays a note on that instrument without revealing the note visually.

The player then presses the note or character they believe was played.

This helps develop the ability to hear the pitch of notes played on different instruments, to hear how much a note was higher or lower than another note, and to connect the name of a note, its pitch and its position in musical notation.

How many notes can you sing?

The player is asked to sing a lengthening sequence of notes. If you get one note right you are asked to sing that note plus another one, all the way up to a maximum of 16.

Two notes might be quite easy but 10 definitely isn’t, unless you develop a really good musical memory or learn to read music and sight sing.

To quote Peter Parrot: “Not many people can do that!”

Slide your voice

In Slide your voice, the player is asked to sing a note with no reference tone. It’s easy if you have perfect pitch, but it‘s also possible if you can work it out for the last note you heard.

Otherwise raising or lowering the pitch of your voice turns the ‘wheel of music’ until you get to the right note.

It’s great for testing pitch and memory, and for developing vocal control.
